Am I being picky in that I find it annoying when someone replies to a post with something along the lines of

"This subject has been covered in depth before why dont you use the search option?""

If people dont want to be bored by a subject that has allready been discussed then why click on the thread in the first place?

Imagine starting up a conversation in a YC bar only to be told to shut up as we discussed that last week. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I was on a photographic forum where someone complained that when he asked to hear from suitable models, the only replies he would get were "sorry I don't do that" or "sorry, my hair's the wrong colour"
It's a similar thing, telling you what you aren't really interested to hear.
It must be a forum user's thing.

I guess it's largely because the regulars have already put a huge amount of effort into answering these sort of questions many times before. If the same question comes up several times in a week (eg importing a boat from US,as on Mobochat) then it's easier to give them a basic answer, and point them towards very detailed threads on the subject that will answer all their questions, as it is unlikely they will receive the same response as the original threads.

Many times people start responding with incorrect info or guesses, and the people who know the info are not going to respond yet again, hence the suggestion to look at previous threads

Re: That makes sense.

In those circumstances fair enough but thats not allways the flavour it comes in.

PS Conch Pearl Ill dismantle the headsail roller if you keep this up and all sail changes will occur during your watch....As you do have more recent foredeck experience than me....

Re: That makes sense.

any subject worth searching on should be posted on Practical boat owner forum.... so in case the same people havnt told you already, bugger off and post over there..... ;-)
