seaPro lite -3000 series up and running on lap-top complete with globalsat bu353 sirfstar 111 usb gps receiver showing position as small circle with central dot ??? track log also clear to see when on the move. Any pointers why I can`t get c.o.g and s.o.g to display in top left hand box/window !!! also position should show on chart as small boat shape with heading line /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif any help Forum , cheeerrrrssss

I had the same problem, and this answer is not much help(today) because I can't remember how I fixed it, and the laptop and program are on the boat. It is something to do with the language the program receives from the GPS. There are two options in one particular menu, and checking the "other" one solved the problem. Sorry this is so vague, but if you can wait a few days, I will have a look next time I'm onboard and PM you. If you e-mail the SeaPro lite people they have the answer.

The circle with a dot signifys that you are moving at less that 0.5kt, i take it you are seeing this whilst at a standstill.

With regards to COG and SOG, hace you selected the correct NMEA sentances in seapro that your GPS is providing, $GPRMC is what you want to see, if you use the NMEA monitor window you should see this sentance with the COG and SOG displayed in it, again as per the above, you may not see a value unless you are moving,

This site is a good source of NMEA sentance info

Just fired up my SeaPro and although it's the full version but I suspect it the roughlt same on the light version.

Select setup (from the menu bar),
Select NAV Properties
select NEMA Rx (receive)
Select the NEMA settings you want to receive
Save

You may not only have to re-satrt Sea=pro but depending on the port setup of your PC you may also have to reboot to re-initialise the serial/USB driver.

Good luck
