I've just bought seaPro lite navigation software to use with a laptop. The live charts work well showing the vessel in real time on the selected chart. However when I enter a route into the computer it loses the plot after a few minutes, has anybody had this problem. I've tried the software in various computers, the result is the same.

Willie,

I have used Seapro for quite a while and have completed a number of installs for people. How does seapro lose the plot?

There are quite a number of things that can cause problems, try these for starters:

check if your GPS is installed as a mouse
Have you got chart AutoPan/Scroll turned on ( without it your boat will scroll off the edge of the screen)

As i said if can give me more info on the fault i should be able to help

Hi Shaun, thanks for your help, the GPS is connected through the USB socket and is working fine. The problem is when I construct a route for the vessel's autopilot to follow and select start, everything is fine for several minutes with the boat following the route then the programme loses all the waypoint information and loses the plot. As I said before I've tried various computers with the same result. I've also downloaded the latest update on to the computer.

Are you running the laptop on batteries or on an inverter?

If on an inverter, try unplugging the laptop and run on batteries only.

I did one for a customer recently with similar problems and we traced it to an argument between the laptop and the inverter. The final sloution was to fit a full sine wave inverter and the problem went away.

Hi Geoff, I run the computer of the boat's 12 volt system through a car charger, I've also run the computer on it's own battery, the results the same.
Regards
Willie
