Has anyone got any feedback on SEAPRO LITE. I am attracted by the NAVTEX feature (albeit with a comparatively expensive antenna). But what are the charts like? It seems a good package (220 all up for NAVTEX and UK/Eire charts). As I think my old NAVTEX is about to die, this might be a suitable time to join the PC charting community.

Thought the same and invested a month ago together with the AIS transponder. I havnt used it to navigate with yet but it was fairly straight forward to set up( you need a usb to serial port splitter). I like the charts with the active lights which draw your attention to them and the size when displayed on my laptop. Cant be more help until the sailing season and I try it for real.

We tried out one of the early versions of SeaPro several years ago, and found it really good - simple to use and with lots of useful features for the money. Since then we have upgraded regularly, and now have a Pro version which we like even more. Off to the Boat Show in January to sort out Navtex and AIS engine with them, too.

Some people have commented that it is not the most intuitive software, but I can't say we've ever found that. Quite the opposite, in fact, so I guess it's just down to the user.

We have a mix of ARCS (Admiralty) and their own Livecharts, and although I prefer the look of the ARCS charts, the vector charts have far better functionality.

The company have always been very helpful when we've needed advice or technical support.

No connection with them - just think it's good kit.

OK, thanks for the info. I'll ponder it some more during the Xmas Hols. (The NAVTEX has started working again, which removes some of my rationale - but even so...! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I have been using Sea Pro Professional for the last five years ever since Euronav offerred the full version to RYA instructors for £99.00
Upgrade it regularly add more charts when i need them by telephone for unlock codes ...I sail in the med.
Latest update at southampton 2007 was a Navionics Gold card which has charts for Med--Gib to Israel,Adriatic, and much more.
They now have a USB GPS available which does away wqith the cabling from the GPS to the serial port which is often missing on modern laptops.
Even after using it for this length of time I still find new info in the program.
