Anybody been there? I should (and i said this last year)be spending a couple of days there in late April or early May.Anybody got any good advice as regards to places to go and things not to do? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This marina is a bit in the middle of nowhere, take the water taxi to Amsterdam where life happens.
Took a 44 metre in more than a few times, very tricky doing a three point turn getting in and out but possible.

There is a great little beach that you can tender to.
it is on your port side as you enter the inner marina.
Very easy to miss as so much is going on, small but select, sheltered little sun trap.

The Hydrofoil trip to Amsterdam is a good suggestion but why not take your own boat, lovely trip.

Just past Amsterdam is a place called Marken, well worth a visit, fishermen families used to live in wooden huts the size of a dolls house.

You can visit Fort Island IJmuiden every first Sunday of the month (not in July and August), take the bus from the marina to Haarlem or the Beverwijkse Bazaar (3000 stall indoor market) and dine at the Dutch Admirals, in the yacht club.

Marina is just a marina, not a lot to say

24 hour open access
good floating pontoons
Volvo dealer
green dyed marine fuel at full duty

If your going passed Mass Europort ?? there are some strict regulations TSS that you should read up about.

For a long stay try the marina at Monikadam, past Amsterdam

Thanks DAKA,Ill be going straight across the channel to Shotley.(if all goes well) /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Going to Shotly ?

Dont miss Fresh local crab at Pin Mills, time for High Water /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Do you know if i wil still need the Dutch Almanac if im not actually going in the canals?(i dont mean for Shotley /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Yes I think so but I dont know for sure.

most ridiculous regulation ever /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You shouldn't need the almanac if not going onto the Amsterdam ship canal.

For anyone that remembers Ijmuiden pre-marina (showing my age) then Seaport is especially welcome.

Can be a bit breezy in there and always seems to be across the berths so can be a bit of fun mooring but it is calm and was well organised last time I was in.
