Yikes - there are so many links to external websites for different prices you don't have a clue where you're going .... if he can't get that right .....
OKAY
We, at last, have our excel dinghy!! Sorry about the sarcasm but have neve had dealings with a firm/person quite like this. Order placed & money taken 26/4 was told 'out of stock but delivery due on Monday. Recieved mail confirming order would be processed ASAP with deliver 3-7 days. So with best will etc 10-14 days. Time elapsed no replies to mails, phone calls were expensive (mobile from Sth of France) After a mail saying we were goinf to bill them for intrest & mooring fees - finally get a mail that the delivery was due Monday. This came and went with no news so another phone call. They couldn't/wouldn't give a tracking number and insisted that I 'trust him'. Finally, divorce looming! yet another phone call illicits a number - this is a consignment no. not a tracking number. Yes it arrived Thursday, was sent on 22nd a full week from the 'it has gone out and will be with you etc etc Not happy at all with the service from this firm and would highly suggest no-one deals with them. Promised warranty of 5 years - a joke -- yes -- but it is part of the contract. The little booklet in the pacjaging states 2 years & one has to flll in a registration card (this was not included) The inflating pumps' pressure gauge does not work. We wait with very little bated breath for a reply. I wish I had used the Forum before ordering. A lesson learned. Thanks to all, esp Chris, who have contributed. Hope the dinghy is robust 'cos don't hold out much hope of a warranty that requires you to send it back to the supplier etc!
I am just in the market for an inflatable boat and came accross Excel on the internet, Google search. They look to be a good boat and a good price. I would appreciate to learn what problems you have.
I have been looking at a Sea Ray brokerage boat at this yard in Sutton. I felt it wise to see if there was any problems with them or customers and concerend tht you have a bad experience. I would appreciate if you could let me know a bit about your experience before I take things further with them.
Only fair to point out that the Excel SD260 and Tohatsu 6hp outboard I bought from Seamark a few years ago have been (and remain) very good quality products. Don't remember any issues with the company or any delivery delays at the time. A happy punter here!
I know several peops with Excels 260 and 290 - seem to be good tenders - well made and robust for the money IMO - but a bit heavy. Two of them have been kept inflated outside for 2-3 years now and are still in use. I think you have bought a reasonable product, just suffered the usual service ills of over promising and under-delivery.
Anyone had dealings with or any issues with Seamark Marine, Excel inflatables or Meridian marine run by Terry Wright based at Bassetts pole Sutton Coldfield? Interested to hear from past customers or marine trade contacts. Contact by PM if prefer. Thanks
