Please could someone recommend a product for the long term sealing of the edges of marine ply.

Also, do I need to seal the flat sides or are they fully waterproofed etc. already ?

Thank you.

Epoxy to seal end grain. Brush well in so that it soaks in, then recoat it after the first lot cured. Finish on the flat surface depends partly on the quality of the ply and partly on the application. If it is external and will be painted then it is common to coat with epoxy then finish in the coating of your choice. You may also sheath it in glass cloth set in epoxy - useful if wear is an issue such as a deck. Internally paint or bright finish.

Thank you for the replies.

The marine ply will be outside in the bottom of the cockpit so potentially very wet, but not visible, so appearance not important.

I have posted this a couple of times so here goes......

This is the best product for sealing the end grain, it is very thin and will soak into the grain and stop any water ingress from wicking in.

If you want to afterwards you can use an ordinary (re standard/ thicker) epoxy to cover all the ply after which you can paint or varnish to your preference.
