The aft locker on my Centaur lets water in... especially whilst I'm hosing her down.

Its a standard lipped lid that drops into a moulding. It either needs some neoprene (spelling?) tape in the dip in the moulding or something on the lip of the lid. Ideas and where to get hold of it???

TIA

Jim

I had the same problem. I cleaned the lip of the locker, where the seat top mates with it, and using Sikaflex, "piped" a seal around the edge . Sikaflex does not slum much, and I was able to build a seal with a triangular cross section. I let the Sikaflex go off, before I closed the locker lid!

Result - locker which used to need bailing out is now dry.

I do visit UK sometimes !!

B&Q is a definite visit for many things when I get back to UK .... along with Argos, Maplins, Caravan Shops, Camping Shops etc.

Thought you'd like to see my 'private mooring area....' in Baltic ..... it's a lifetimes dream to have boat at bottom of garden ....

Hopefully maybe 2005 will see me change the boat that is moored here at moment ......

Old trick was ....

To put cling-film around an edge and then lower down onto the silicon / sealant to form the seal .....the clingfilm allowed the lid to be lifted after the sealant had formed and set.
Older ways used oil smeared around the lid edge to stop it sticking ....

Now that's my idea of a mooring! Did you have it dug out, or was it already there? Any pictures of surrounding area?

PS - Found your website, just having a look at the piccies now!!

Re: I do visit UK sometimes !!

House was originally 4 family job and converted by previous owner to 2. We are now combining into 1 family job with guest rooms.
Total land area incl. canal is over 14,000 sq.m (about 3.5 acres). Useable land after decuction of canal is 12,400 sq.m.

Canal was dug by previous guy and has silted up from 2mtrs to about 90 cms. It exits into the main Venta River and then to Baltic after about 3 kms. I have to lower mast to pass under town bridge (clearance is about 28ft).
Estate lies within City Limits and is last large plot to be sold - as town has now decreed that all large plots after this are to be split up and sold at 'normal house size plots'.
I have permission to develop the canal for Boat Station and possible Dinghy school. It si also expected to place my UK boat here later next year.
Yesterdya we lifted out the pontoon and dayboat I have here before the autumn rise of water level prior winter ..... winter here the river gets to about 1.5 - 2 mtrs ice .... which means canal is total ice ..... so I'm just checking out skates in local shops at moment !! Have considered possible ice sailing as well ...

The web-site is being updated continuously and a few links will not work yet ... so re-visit often .....

Cheers
