So what do I use to seal, when fitting my rudders back on where it all bolts to the hull and through hull fixings. The stuff on them isnt silicone but is sort of soft?

So you removed the rudder stuffing gland then - how did you get it free ?

P.S. An oil based mastic from the swindlers (can't remember what it's called, but it's about £7 a tube) should do the trick.

No not yet ,cant get anything on it, so I have to drop the rudder out to undo it.Its a bit corroded and has like limescale on it.Problem is I need a 3"+ adjustable or stillsons or a big plumbing wrench to get on the 75mm nut and you cant get enough torque on it buried down in the hull.
I may try a strong oil filter remover first, one on those chain ones, you never know!

Going down there today to give it a bash.
Still cant be as bad as my car problems....90mm single wheel nut,900Nm torquewrench 4 1/2ft long ,scaffold pole and I bent the damn torquewrench!
