When replacing a pear anode one of the bolts started to turn and although I can get tight I am concerned that the fitting may no longer be watertight. Is best solution to apply some Sikaflex type sealant before tightening then nut?

The sealant needs to be right at the heart of the stud / hole, not just around the edges. I would slack it off a few turns and draw it out several mm then apply some 291 onto the stud flat and around the hole.

then pull it up gently until you get an even squish around the periphery with the nut just starting to tighten. Then leave it a few days to cure before pulling it up nice and tight, then fit a locknut to prevent turning next time.
