Sealing a replacement pitot pickup..

Hi,

I am going to replace the pitot pickup on the boat before she goes into the water.. I have tested the speedo with air and all is working but the spring that holds the pitot down feels soft so it's probably not holding down properly and so not working..

Question is what sealer to use in the screw holes??.. Is a standard "marine" silicone sealer from any DIY store good enough or do I need to get something stronger like the polyurethane sealer/adhesives??

Maybe you need to tell a bit more about this instrument. What make/model.
The last time I looked at a Pitot tube it was at an airplane, so I'm confused what you are referring to.

Just not sure if the screw holes in the transom need sealing or anything to stop water getting in and if so what I should use..

What are you screwing into GRP, wood ????

Dont see that it will need anything special

Smallest cheapest in the chandlery if you have to buy.

Dab of Araldite if they are self tappers going into GRP.

Going into the existing screw holes into GRP boat.. Just replacing the old pitot pickup..
