Sealing 23 build date

S23 / 25 was built from 2002 to 2006, although some might have been first commissioned after then.
It got "rebranded" as an S25 sometime in 2005, although it was only the badge and a bit of detailing that changed.
Most were powered by KAD32 (preferred choice), although some last of the line models might have a D3.
Some early models had problems with the "dinner tray" bathing platform, although this was soon sorted out.

Sealine built a series of small sports cruiser starter boats, all with incredible packaging. The S23/25 was I think the last of the series, before Sealine we upmarket, and ran out of cash. The S22/24/23/25 was many people intro into well built small family cruisers, initially with petrol engines, and later with the better diesel option. If your thing is a sub 25ft sports cruiser, look no further.

They are very good, but there is more to small sport cruisers than the S23. They definitely are not everyones cup of tea and do make sure you have trim tabs.

What's an S22?
S240 = S24. I had one of these for several years. Mr DunstableSteve has one too.
It's not the same boat at all as S23 / S25, which came later.

We spent ages looking at different boats but kept returning to our initial thoughts that the S23 was best for our needs.
Almost six years and approaching 600 engine hours on and we remain pleased with our purchase.
Differences between boats will amout to optional extras such as heating, holding tank, electric anchor windlass, vhf radio, chart plotter.
Earlier boats have a glossy dash panel which I prefer to the later matt finish version but that's not a big deal. Otherwise the cosmetic differences are insignificant.

Sorry, my point was that Sealine built a series of boats of a similar size and genre, and did not mean to imply they were all the same. However, they were all great boats in their time. Of course there is plenty of choice in this size from other manufacturers, mainly Yankee jobs. We had a Sunbird, and really enjoyed her at the time, but all things being equal, would have liked the Sealine.

Would they be ok for trailing , I Imagine a hefty tow car but still possible , thanks again for replies .

Yep, towable with something like a Discovery. Max loaded legal towing load is 3.5 tonnes, and this boat, especially as a diesel, must be near the limit. Again Steve Dunstable is yer man.

The S240 was the S230 originally, the S23 built 2002 - 2004 has the same layout as the original S230 from 1992.

it doesnt show when the models changes are merely cosmetic and just a rebadge, even so some useful info here.

It would help a great deal for a build year or picture, as said the S23 is close to the 230 in layout internal and helm. But the 230 became the 240 8 years earlier became, the 2002 S23 could even be related to the 220 or even 218 in layout, not necessarily actual build etc.

I would really disagree there!!

We have owned our S23 for five years now and it has proven to be a tough little boat.

Can be a bit tippy and a handful in windy conditions. Sometimes feels like you need three hands to steer, work the throttle and dab the trim tabs but on the whole we love our little boat and we travel far and wide with it.

They can be trailered if you have a decent tow car and trailer but they are very much on the limit.

Most of the S23/S25's were diesel. I can only think of one we have seen that was petrol. Most were powered by the KAD32 which if serviced on a regular basis is a pretty solid engine, ours has yet to give us any trouble despite many many hours of running. You really want proof that the drive has been serviced on a regular basis as well as these can be troublesome if left untouched and unserviced.

As with most boats watch out for stress cracking. These boats are often first time boats and can be subjected to some unsympathetic use along the way.

There seems to be a glut of S23/S25's on the market at the minute so you should be able to find a decent one from the ones on offer. Our marina (Burton Waters) has five or six for sale at the minute!!

What do you disagree with ?

Between 1983 and 1998 1 was at the factory once a week, spending half day on the shop with the lads building the boats sorting out their problems, and up the factory often till 2005, so I know a little about them.
