Sealine Statesman 330

I am considering buying a Sealine Statesman 330.
Is there anything in particular that I should look out specfically on this kind of boat?
And what would a good price for this boat be, 1996 excellant condition with heating, radar, gps plotter e.t.c

I was going to reply to your engine post later but here is my answer on a boat of this size, ad31 too small, old 305 sealine will only just get on the plane with a lot of tab fiddling, go for the mercs instead, smoother, quieter, more torque and mpg, parts costs about he same.

Or how about a Princess 388, 306 volvos and a proper shaft drive for just a bit more money!.

The engines are a big cost in building a boat. Twin 180s sound a touch weedy for big-built boat. You should ensure that you are totallty happy about the performance, IMHO. Obv as wel as making sure all else works.

A friend has one of these with merc 220's(4.2ltr)It's a really nice boat with respectable performance.Engines your looking at does sound a bit on the small size,unless your a river dweller.Don't forget,they never go like they do on a sea trial, you soon end up putting a few hundredweight (Byronism) of clutter on board to slow you down. Either way they are a nice boat.

This boat has been the subject of many posts on this forum. General feeling has always been due to sterndrives and high sides they are difficult to manouvre in the marina. Also a bit bounce when it get a little rough.

However, as always, you pays yer money and takes yer choice.

I had a 98 F33 with the kad32d'S in it. Everyone warned about performance but it went like stink, even with 4 adults two kids and 2 week hols worth of tat on board. granted I had just had it serviced, put new probs on and scrubbed the bottom but I was dead impressed. Not sure what the Mercs would be like but probably not that different.

Agree with ohters about marina manouversthough...even after 2 yrs slow river work could not stop the thing flying all over the place. Could be me but have had no probs with other boats . Praps fit a bow thruster?

A friend of mine has one and we have been cruising together many times. The boat is pretty quick 26knts loaded. The lack of power only shows in roughish weather - in an F5 WOT we managed to keep at 22knts, they were down to 10. Also it's quite difficult to trim, but can be overcome with practise!

Close qtrs problems were solved by fitting a bow thruster.

I've heard the same criticism of the F33 somewhere. Is this a general Sealine thing, or is it only certain models?

I hope you don\'t suffer from sea sickness

I have one next to me in Porstmouth harbour and you would not believe the gyrations she does when there is a passing ferry. My TS37 just about moves, but the 330 is pitching & rolling all over the place. I would genuinely hate to be inside in those conditions.
They look nice & 'seem' well built with lots of goodies, but maybe you should look around.
