looked over one at Cannes, looks fab from the outside IMO, i think its what they were trying to achieve with the SC38 and failed. The black roof and slightly Wally-esque styling really work, the roof opening is huge, and the cockpit seating is big and practical

... now the downside, some of the detailing internally was so poor. The folding saloon table had a couple of flimsy domestic style hinges, and would certainly break if even a child put their weight on it. The folding cockpit table wasn't much better ether. What a shame to get so close to a good boat, then get let down by the detail..

i thought the detailing was excellent at sibs, maybe this is boat 2 or 3.
huge beam and slab sides, its starting to grow on me but i think the sc38 from outside looks fab and sealines new interiors really set the pace

I saw the one from the exterior on the island outside SIBS with the black Union Flag on the side (I assume i'm talking about the correct boat) and I thought it looked absolutely disgusting, this was then backed u by everyone else on the bridge with me agreeing with me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It caused a stir bit IMO for all the wrong reasons...

Maybe I'll see it on the water and be proven wrong...

I thought I was going to like it, but it reminded me of something from the 70's, big and square, and possibly a bit like old American car styling. It needed some curves somewhere I feel.

I didn't go onboard, so cant comment on the inside.

Its a dramatic change of direction, maybe it will grow on me, but I doubt it.

Oi Magnum, you know what they say about about too much beer and women,

I RECKON YOU WERE WELL PLASTERED WHEN YOU LOOKED AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first reaction was oh my god what have they done but standing there it started to grow on me and it is good to see sealine trying different ideas. I did manage to go onboard and my first impression was Ikea, they tried the modern approach but achieved a bland look and actually looks cheap. I prefer the older sealines and the warmer interiors.

It seems to me sealine just can't get the hardtop to look right and I include the s29c and a just hate it in terms of looks although I like the idea, they should look at the Finnmaster 31oc which has a more balanced look.

I spoke to one of the sealine sale reps and basically told him they doing a good job putting off a sealine fan, but he commented on the market research and had good feedback to encourage the direction they have taken. And back to the S29 he mentioned that may be dropped in favour of the popular hardtop version - eek.

At the end of the day sealine will judge success by their sales book.

IMO I being put off sealine and now considering alternatives like the Finnmaster etc.

I spent quite some time at SIBS yesterday looking at the SC35. The boat on the water at SIBS is hull #001, and the salesman freely admitted that there were quite a few details that needed sorting out, like the positioning of the throttles, and that the finish wasn't all that it could be. I like the contrasting hardtop colour, but it was a bit of a test by Sealine, and it is an odd colour, and is not available to order; it's any colour you want as long as it's white, sir. The styling works better for real than from paper, for me anyway, and the interior volume benefits as a result. Only real downside for me is the small master cabin with a short berth that would have my feet hanging off the edge, and that to spec the boat up sensibly takes it over £200k.

I was also told that new flybridge boats would use exactly the same hulls as the the SC35 & SC38, so at a guess the F37 will be next for the Wally treatment.
