unlikely. However, if the technical question was regarding the engine, it's almost certainly near the back of the boat. Also, the missing bits from you new boat will be along shortly, or if you bought secondhand then it's always been like that.

Wasn't is someone in dad's army who asked "permission to ask a question" ??

If you ask them, then we may be able to say yes or no, in the meantime it's a may be may not possibly try.

Top speed with KAD 44s
Top speed with KAD 300s
Fuel consuption with the above engines
Any problems with cavitation on high speed turns
What's the full story on the so called 'chine walking'
Any structural problems with the full hard top

Top speed with KAD 44s - dunno. Similar to KAD300s, possibly knot or two less?

Top speed with KAD 300s - 32 kts
Fuel consuption with the above engines - 10-11 gph each engine at 3500 rpm = 27/28 kts in flattish water

Any problems with cavitation on high speed turns - No. DP-G leg seems to grip well. Did understand this was an issue (not really "issue", more "characteristic") with the old Yanmar/Mercruiser combination but ours has been re-engined with KAD300

What's the full story on the so called 'chine walking'
It's a characteristic. Can be a little un-nerving at first but you get used to it and learn to avoid/eliminate it.

Any structural problems with the full hard top
Hope not. The thing flexes when underway at speed but no signs of stress cracks etc. I did notice last week that the mastic seal covering the join on one side is 'opening' slightly as this flexing occurs but haven't had a chance to investigate further.

Generally, accommodation is excellent. Loads of space and the fit out quality is good enough. Good value.

Let me know if you have other specifics.

We have spent the last 2 years looking at upgrading our S34 to a 41. Were put off initially by the stories of chine walking but Sealine then modified hull shape in 2002/3. Then met some owners who said their engines struggled to get a fully loaded boat on the plane.
Finally had a sea trial the other day on the S42 with D6 (350hp) engines. Very impressed with handling, speed, noise levels etc. Even more impressive after trialling Princess V42 before which was very dissapointing. Noisy, poor build quality, uncomfortable, expensive......
Have now placed the order for Dec delivery. Hope the wait has been worthwhile.

As PhilF said - or so I understand it. Sealine was (presumably still is) re-engining boats built with the Yanmar/Mercruiser combination at their own cost (only if bought back into stock). Ours was one of those.

The standard engine for S42 was TAMD75 - 480hp which I think was supposed to give 32kts. What's the performance with D6 350hp? Seem like a big drop off in power or am I missing something?

I have just done a 5 day course with a guy on that S42, handles well and had 38 knots out of it today. Had a good play with it yesterday, serious fun /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

So that was 38kts from 350hp D6s? Or did he have different power plant. So what performance did 480hp TAMD75s deliver?
