Sealine S34 with KAD32's Any views?

Looking at Sealine S34's at the moment as our replacement boat and although the majority seem to be fitted with AD41's, there are quite a few with KAD32's. That's 60HP less in total. Anyone know the top speed and cruising speed with KAD32's? Which has the better fuel comsumption? Anyone with any views on which is the better engine for this boat?

Afaik most S34s were made with KAD32s as it was the base price option. Next it's split between AD41s and KAD43s with very few D4 engined boats built.

The KAD32 boatss are fine - best described as sedentary but they get about. The engine space is quite tight with the extra 2 cylinders per side on the 41/43 boats.

The bigger lumps add weight as well and there was some discussion 5 or so years ago that the heavier engines led to some hull issues but I am not sure if thus was actually the case, well found theory or just good old fashioned Sealine bashing.

The kad32 engined boat will have the edge on fuel economy over the ad41.
It may even accelerate onto the plane a bit better. But the ad41's will achieve a few knots extra top speed.

I have driven a couple of 34s with the 32s. The engine space and the lightness would make it my choice, unless I could afford one with D4s. Just be reasonably sensible about the amount of clobber you keep on board and they go well.
And I agree with both the above bar the "sedentary" comment. Martyn's point about them planing easily is true which makes them feel lively enough.
