Hello,

I have a Sealine S328 cruiser and when I went down to her yesterday all of the 12v DC power is completely dead. Even with shorepower connected there is nothing on the DC power panel - no lights on battery charging or anything else. The voltage on the batteries is about 1.9v. Any ideas ? Does anyone know whereabouts the battery charger is located on these boats ?

Thanks,
Steve

Did you measure 1.9V at the battery terminals? if so the battery will almost certainly be permanently damaged, your going to need a new one /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif If you measured it somewhere else are you sure the master switches are not just turned off or faulty?
If something is running the batteries flat you need to find the problem before fitting new batteries. Boat wiring is notoriously crap so I don't envy you, start looking at obvious stuff like a bilge pump switch or domestic water pump left running.

Thanks for that.

I did measure at the batteries so I'm assuming that they're all gonners now. I think its worse than just something running them flat - as the charger lights are not even coming on so its not attempting to charge - it looks like something at the source of DC power wherever that is, or a dead-short. But I cant find any breakers that have blown which is what i'd expect for a short.

Cant guess at what your problem is but the Charger on our 328 is located to the right of the cockpit fridge under the seat.

If you are facing the fridge the charger is on the right behind the battery switches. I havnt had access to it but you can hear it running.

Thanks for the info - I spent the afternoon trying to sort it but gave up in the end and have got the boatyard to look at it. Cant wait to count the 0's on the bill /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
