Sold my existing boat. Been looking for a sportscruiser such as the above for a while now, with not much success. Several viewings but nothing found. So wondering about widening the search into other models.
Criteria are a twin diesel, post 2000( although an earlier Targa would do), and 65K ish price.
And on the South Coast
Would be most grateful for advice, pointers and so on. My head's in a whirl.

While we are being predictable, a bavaria BMB 300 is well worh considering. A bit more room than either the S28 or T29 with a good fit out and a nice performance hull.

Essex boatyards have one at the mo.

maybe you have, but use the boat sales on ybm and put in 28-30ft, but leave price out. That way you should get all models and usually some photos and details.
The reason for leaving out the price is you maybe trying a tight squeeze on price and size. Its a good way of finding out!
Other way, miss out everything except price ,at say from £60k to £70k. That way you can see everything that falls within the price, whether its something you had thought of, or not.
Do it both ways round (but not together) and you have a fair list of what to start looking for on other sites, and a very good idea of what you certainly are not interested in.
You also might decide that if you change the criteria a bit, you suddenly open up a new possibility.

the Gobbi 315 SC is a fabolous

she is the trend setter for the sports cruiser design we see today on the likes of Absolutes and many other makers, the design kf this boat has made some sort of schooling IMO

there is someone around here who has one may be you can ask for some ownership experience

Never been a big fan of the looks of the 315 - I can't quite put my finger on it but the arch just doesn't look right. Also, for the UK market the big sun pad at the back is just a waste of cockpit space. Great for the sun drenched med no doubt, but the Sealine/Fairline/BMB arrangement of a crew seat plus dining is much better suited to UK boating.

One of the reasons why the new BMB's (27s/30s) will not do so well over here...

The 315 is a good example, but waaay too many radar-arched boats look like baby baskets to me.

And too many boats look like trainers too!

I find myself liking streamlined classic designs more and more... like the San Juan 48

http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1689907/0

or the Chris Craft Corsair 36, Halvorsen 38 etc.

All with a shedload of power, of course.

Not a huge fan of (mostly Pininfarina) Magnum boats, but I love their MO of putting ridiculous amounts of arneson power in extremely heavy, over-thick hulls.

How does a 50' 23,000kg (dry) speedboat with 2,700hp sound?

Sorry... going off track!

A touch of thread drift here,I fear.
Please remain focussed on my problem!
input so far has been pretty helpful, but 2700hp is not envisioned.
But when I was waged I concerned myself with 12000hp engines. Oops, drifted again.

the Magnum
those boats like Itama or an old Baia
IMO are a class of there own /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
pure sports cruisers with unbeatable stabilty and ride
pity you don't see much of these in the UK

the sunbed on the 315 SC is a bit small in comparison so not much a waste of space and is transformibale to a bigger one thanks to the electic seat movement, it has also one of the most spacious dinette C-shaped settee outside which sits 8 comfortably
it has lovely interiors, one of the best sized galley in the size
and outside from my perspective with the huge platform is unbeatable
also the fittings, railins. cleats etc is among the best of the category
you don see any bolt or nut from the outside

Gobbi 315 is a great boat, super sunpad for lazing around and lots of floor space. excellent engine access.I took one from Solent to Falmouth in 6 hrs averaged 29knots. As others have said get a boat with the 6 cylinder engines smoother, quieter. Vibration free boat is the real bonus
Surprisingly Gobbi production runs longer and build nos higher than Fairline equivilants
