I am still not getting sufficent revs from my Mercruiser Engines which are 3.6D 180 hp linked to Bravo 2 drives.

The engines have now been well checked out and i can only beleive that the problems now lie with the props being worn.

Is this a fair assumption?

If I need new props how do I specify what they are, because I am worried that during the boats 20 years of life someone may have fitted the wrong units?

props being worn sounds the most unlikely reason I have heard in a while...

as to the last point - the props have their code stamped onto the outside of the hub. Are the drives 'original' - if not you also have their gear ratio to consider in this vein.

if I was a betting man (and I am) on a 20 year old boat the first thing I would do in such a situation would be to take absolutely everything out of all the lockers and put it on the dock, if you have a holding tank empty it, half water and fuel with clean hull and props - now go for a test run.

the alternative is to simply swap out the props for the next size down and try that - but obviously you need a friendly prop dealer with SH spares as they rarely stock new props.

just exactly what revs are you missing?

how many hours on the engines?
