Does anyone own or has owned one? Seems like a good boat for cruising with family. There are also quite a few up for sale with reasonable prices.

If anyone has experience on these boats, please post here or pm me, I would be very interested in hearing your comments.

I also noticed that some had the D6/370 hp Volvo's on them. To me this seems slightly modest on a 16 tn cruiser, any views on this?

Thanks!

I considered one a few years ago and i was looking secondhand and most of the boats had a dinette instead of the additional cabin which I was looking for.

At 11.8 tonnes, and with Sealine's fairly efficient hulls, i'd expect you'd get 30 knots flat out with 370's if everything was clean and shiny. Never been on one, but always liked the look of them, heard generally good things about them, and i think the extending cockpit is a great idea.

FWIW, I chartered a F43 (similar size to F42/5) with D6 engines a few weeks ago and that seemed to go well enough. Certainly cruising at 23-25kts was easy and I guess 30kts would be achievable
However. I was'nt all that impressed with the high revving characteristics of the D6 engines in this boat and the additional noise and vibration which I felt was present. In fact I put a post on the forum about it. See HERE I would recommend that you have an extended seatrial before you buy.

Oh yes - so do I now

It was a post from Solitare.
Its gone now though

Seems he knows of a F42/5 thats for charter in the Solent and there seemed to be some time available at short notice.

BTW
We had a Sealine T51 - fab boat - and they seem available at good prices - D12s though so might be a bit bigger than you are looking for. However I can give you a "thumbs up" for that vintage of Sealine - I dont like the latest ones much (T50 and T60) but from experience the T51/52 were great boats.

I broke the rules and it was pulled. In a nice way though and I did know it was close to the bone.

Didn't seem that much of a breach to me. Anyway. If they had a canx at such short notice, they should still have recovered most if not all of the money.

Got the deposit - but more than that!!!!!!!!!!! Powerskipper has in fact made reference to the boat.
