I'm looking to buy an F37 so I'm going to be asking a lot of silly questions in coming weeks. Apologies already!

Sealines website gives 4,42 metres as the height above water line. Does anybody know wether it's possible to easily lower the radar arch -thingy? ie. how it is fixed to the flybridge structure?

We are frequently visiting a lake that is blocked by a bridge with 4,2 meter clearance. I could take on a LOT of beer but a similar approach was taken by a barge in the seventies and it now lies sunken next to the bridge =( Sadly the barge didn't use beer, but it still makes a nice dive site...

Thanks.

We had an F37 on MBM a few years back, and had to remove the radar tower thingy to have it transported by road. It was not difficult, but was more hassle than you would want to do on the hoof. The new F37's have a different design which may be easier. How old is the boat you are looking at?

Ours was a 2002 model. I think 2003 and 2004 were still the same design. As a one off it would be ok to remove. To regularly get under a bridge I don't think it would work in its standard form.

Having said that, if the F37 is the boat for you, I can't see why it couldn't simply be modified to allow quicker and easier lowering. It would need some quick release fixings, possibly some spare cable lengths on the wires going up to the radome etc, and if it hasn't got them already, some hinges on the aft end. Lastly it would need some method of support in the lowered position.

Ours is a 2001 model and has hinges at the back edge of the arch. There are two big handwheel bolt things in the panel where the aft canopy stows. Just remove those and the thing hinges backwards. I think you only need to support it if you're going any distance or on a trailer. For getting under a bridge it should be fine.
