Sealine F37 – Anchor upgrade from 10 kg Delta – will Vulcan or Rocna fit?

Hi all,

I have a 2005 Sealine F37 (just bought it) with the original 10 kg Delta anchor. I am realy not confident using this when staying overnight.
The bow roller / anchor housing seems to be shaped specifically for this anchor size and style.

I’m considering upgrading to a modern anchor in the 15–20 kg range – preferably Vulcan or Rocna – but I’m unsure if they will physically fit into the existing bow roller without modifications.

Has anyone here with an F37:
  • Swapped out the original Delta?
  • Installed a Vulcan, Rocna, or Spade on this model?
  • Modified or replaced the bow roller to make it fit?
Any photos, measurements, or real-world experience would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. You don't say where you are from (or are based). Most modern anchors perform well but seabed, location, location, can influence decisions (Rocna does collect a lot of mud - so you need a powerful deck wash).

The original Delta shank was an excellent design, much underrated and much copied. Spade shank is a copy with the cranks smoothed out. Rocna is a copy of Spade, with the expensive fabrication designed out. If a Rocna fits, try the template, then most ballasted anchors, Excel, Spade , Epsilon will also fit. Epsilon, Spade, Rocna was, Excel are all rated as SHHP. You can throw Kobra, Knox, Viking, Odin into the mix.

Delta has no roll bar and it depends on your bow roller configuration and the rest of the kit at the bow the roll bar may not fit, Excel, Spade, Odin, and Epsilon have no roll bar.

Most chandlers will 'lend' you an anchor to try for fit - it encourages you to buy from them. But try the cardboard template first.

All of the anchors I name are good, you will be unable to differentiate between their performance - the choice comes down to personal preference, cost, what fits and what your chandler stocks. Of he anchors - Kobra is probably the cheapest, but you must be able to source cheap Deltas on eBay (or the for sale section of YBW

If, as I suspect, the Sealine is a MoBo you may get more informed answers from the MoBo section of YBW. But a picture of your bow might evoke some comment here and there. Often the windlass is too far forward to allow sensible use of a bigger anchor. But replacing your 10kg Delta with a 10kg Epsilon should fit and the Epsilon will have twice the hold of the Delta. If shank length becomes the issue then it is possible to buy hinged bow rollers, that extend - which might be worth investigating or have a local stainless fabiricator make an extension for you (simply bolt on).

Lewmar Epsilon anchors seem to have all but disappeared online. It’s even gone from Lewmar’s website.

Anyone know what happened?

Maybe because the factory finish looked like an apprentice had done the smoothing out with their teeth.
I’m really happy with the performance of mine, and price was a big thing for me, but I would happily have paid a fiver more to help them buy a file to knock to sharp edges off before it was galvanised

The F37 is indeed a motor boat. It has a typical Sealine arrangement for the anchor in that it fits into a moulded pocket on the bow, so not possible to modify it easily. You’ll definitely need a template.

The Epsilon would be a good fit if you can find one.

Thanks Sticky

I doubt any roll bar anchor will fit, without it, the bow, (anchors are a thing of beauty :) ), looking ugly.

The choice is now much smaller but being a MoBo one would need to consider adding an Ultra to the stripped down list :)
