My old port tab has been replaced by new due to water ingress. Both sides work ok from both stations. The lower station led display works ok i.e progressive red & green lights etc but the top one displays a row of green no matter what although the tabs operate up and down or side to side as normal. Has anyone have any idea or point me in the right direction perhaps with a circuit diagramn? If there is a new fault surely the bottom indicator would mirror the top fault? I had a job finding where the boat loom joined the ram wire and after much searching in the confined space under the gas box found the cable holed to be drilled throgh the base of the main horizontal upvc trunking.

We had exactly the same problem last year. Had the boat lifted in march for other work so we changed the port trim tab, still had the same problem, changed the control panel, still had the same problem. In the end the sparky changed all the wiring and the problem has been sorted. He reckons it was a chaffed wire.

It is worth changing the trim tab bellows on a regular basis to stop water ingress in the rams. These where not cheap but we changed the starboard bellows to try and keep that one working.

Where did you buy the bellows from? (and how much?) They are Eltrim (I think) which Sealine fit to most models.
You've pricked my conscience since mine are 9 years old and not been changed.

I get my bellows from Trickett Marine in Poole, I can't remember the price of the last ones - sorry (age related before anyone mentions it)

Have wiring diagram but it's on the works computer and I am at home, it is available online, that's how I got it.

They came from Tricket Marine and i believe they were around £35 plus postage. Cant remembr the exact price but that sounds about right.

Interestingly it looked as though the starboard ram on our boat may have been changed before or the bellow certainly as it was in much better condition than the port one.

Motortech in Port Solent sell them for £25-ish.
I change them every couple of years when the UJ bellows get done.

Cheaper than new trim tabs :)

This looks like a problem with the control box. To confirm move the defective box to the other position to see if the fault moves with the box.

If it is then in fact it is a very easy fix. The trim tab feeds back a voltage to a comparitor circuit which, as the name suggests, compares the feed back voltage to 0v and 12Vand lights the LEDs.

On mine, one of the resistors was open circuit, once replaced it all worked OK.
A resistor costs pence.

I have a circuit diagram somewhere but no idea where - as you are local I am sure we could sort something out.....

Do the test and let me know.

Thanks. I'm away for a few days but i'll get back to you. I have an eltrim circuit diagramn on board but its a bit faded. I would like a c.diagramn of the sealine wiring in case i have the wrong connection to the ram loom.
