Sealine C39 with 440Hp Yanmars on Trimax Drives

This was from a phase where Sealine were experimenting with all sorts of weird and wonderful drive systems.

Not many C39's with Arneson's were sold, mainly because of the SIXTY THOUSAND pound premium over the sterndrive version. Also, the hull wasn't really up to 45kts, hence all a bit pointless. Later SC39's only came with more sensible D4/D6 options with stern drives.

(There was something that looked suspiciously like an S37 with surface drives at Swanwick once: that really was a one-off (probably a development prototype)).

I like the look of the SC 39 , but don`t think i have ever seen one about . Does anyone know if Sealine made many ? .I cant see any for sale apart from the one with trimax drives . Does that mean they are popular with owners or rare as rocking horse **** .

To be honest, it's not their best boat: nobody could figure out who the target market was.

Last of the line ones with D6 outdrives were better.

TriMax drives are Fabio Buzzi design surface drives... worked in conjunction with ZF gearboxes, often two step ones, one for lower speeds and getting onto plane faster, and next one up to increase speed (Prop RPM), whilst keeping engine RPM constant, using the torque available to reach a higher top speed.

Drive is non-articulated, so have fixed shaft with rudder behind the prop, increasing the control even when airborne...

This guy have TriMax Drives.....

So has this one....

Took the pictured during RB 2008 at NE Scotland..

As it has less complexity and moving parts it is seen, by some, as being more reliable than Arnesons, but do require some sort of modification / addition to the stern section to support rudders + exhaust system which directs the exhaust in front of the prop ventilating at lower speeds .....

So with those drives can you only go slowly (displacement speed ) or flat out , and on that size boat would it take ages to get up on the plane .

We have a lerker, now retired, that can tell you, true Sealine expert, EDC systems, bus system switch gear etc, in fact to you can blame him for most of them.

We just need to get him to post now.
