I'm off to St Carles tomorrow for a long weekend on my new to me Sealine 390.

She's got Volvo TAMD61a engines.

I need to get the props off on Tuesday, and have been offered loads of help and tools, including a puller, by the seemingly bottomless friendship pit of that lot who moor over there.

However we don't know the actual nut size.

It would be good to actually take the right size socket with me, I know it will be bigger than my socket set.

Anyone know?

re stilsons - used correctly the nut will come off perfectly fine, done it a few times no problem. The nut will be about 2 " across the flats, plenty of surface for the stillsons to bed onto.

There are a pair of stilsons in the dockmasters workshop opposite my paniola (shed), Mark.
If I'm sure you can pack the stilsons with lots of rags to protect the nut.

Alternatively, I know od an excellent hardware store in Tortosa who I'm sure will have a socket the correct size. PM me if you need directions.
You could also try the two places we went to the other day ( one on the N340 - the other was on the way into town and is the local Volvo Penta dealer)
