Hello all

Does anyone have any idea what the typical cruising range and MPG of a Sealine 255 or 285 petrol. The 255 has 2 x 147 HP petrols and the 285 2 x 210 HP petrols.

I am looking to start boating in one of these, it would be nice to know what fuel costs to expect, but there seems to be minimal info on them. Any other advice on these model also appreciated.

Thanks

we have had a 285 fo rthe last 2 years (just part exchanging for a newer sealine now) but it was diesel, I can not say how ecomomical it will be I am afraid but compaired to other boats with the same diesels as mine the 285 seems to be quite frugal.

Sorry that is not much help at all is it!

Like studgies, I've had a 2 x diesel 285 for the last year + great boat - needed a lot of work and gained quite a bit of knowledge about it in the process! For what it's worth, at around 20kt cruise, I get 2mpg. If you want more about the boat, send me a p.m.

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.

Maybe I can get a gas conversion to ease the costs, cant see any diesels on the market at the moment, well not under £20k

We had an S255 for the last 3 yrs with the 150hp petrol twin setup. Ours was in good nick and we were very pleased with it. Fuel costs were around 8-10 g per hr at 20kn. we offset this by taking our 2 week hols to the C.Is where petrol is cheap. We eventually upgraded to an S28 simply cos we needed more room (and now want to go bigger again) but the 255 was excellent value at around £20-25k with twin petrols. We also bought a trailer with ours and kept it at home for the winter saving a wad in lift out and storage charges

Gas conversion.

Have a good look at some of the forum posts a few months ago on converting to gas.A few problems have occured with conversions.Availabilty may also be a problem.
