Wiggo asked some questions following my earlier post concerning Sealine.

I don't wish to enflame what has become a rather vitriolic debate. I was simply pointing out that manufacturers choose the position of their products within the market and that Sealine have been very successful in pursuing their particular philosophy.

What is most important is that we all have a passion for this delightful sport and I can't wait for the spring and the better weather when we can cruise and yarn on each others' boats long into the balmy evenings. If someone invites me onto their Sealine then I would be happy to accept and would reciprocate so we can compare and contrast our vessels and enjoy doing so!

Mind you the interior designer responsible for the promotion T60 owner's cabin is to style as Attila the Hun was to baby sitting.

No intention of stirring, EyeNo. You raised an interesting point about market positioning and perception, and it got me thinking.

I'd like to know what the manufacturers think their target market is, and what the buyers' perception is. I have my own ideas about Sealine's positioning, but I've never really thought about the other players.

Yes I have as well but I am reluctant to post my views because this may cause others to riot. If we are all agreed that we can post objective comments which are not designed to offend then I think this would be an interesting exercise. By the way I have discussed this with two of the UK manufacturers Chairmen and whist I could not breach a confidence I could submit their views on a no names basis.

Why don't you set the ball rolling.
