Afternoon,

Has anyone used that sealift thing in Cowes,

the thing that lifts you up and they will scrub the boat bottom??

really need to get ours cleaned but not that keen on paying a fortune to lift and scrub when we are trying to sell her?

anyones experience, good or bad would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Yep, i used it 3 yrs ago, and there's been lots of posts on here about it. General opinion seems to be very positive, which matches my experience.

not used it myself but I've heard good things and I will be using it in the summer. Not just for scrubbing but also for changings anodes etc. You can also hire it overnight to antifoul

We have used it for the last two seasons for a mid season scrub and anode change. It did go up in price sharply last year. So its worth phoning and getting the latest price. Best to book. Very easy to use. They guys there are really helpful.

Yep, used it last summer, very easy to use, thee guys were great and much much cheaper than what we usually do at Shamrock. They did struggle a little getting 46ft, 16 tonne positioned correctly but once they 'got a grip' all was well

Hi,

Used it in 2007, on route to the westcountry.. scrub went better than the cruise which got as far as Weymouth due to weather /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Really great for me too on both occasions when I've used them. Ralph (the guy who runs it) is a great guy and always offers the use of his boat if we need to go ashore. About 1/2 price to what I'd pay elsewhere.

Used a couple of times for mid season clean off and it is not only efficient and value for money but incredibly easy to use. Ralph and his team nice chaps and very helpful.
Costs have gone up a fair bit for 2009 for extended lifts over night etc but for a quick lift and scrub cant beat it.

Just spent this weekend on the Sealift. Stayed overnight so I could do a few jobs including antifoul, anodes, shaft seal.
Last year I bought the 3 lift deal and have done the same for this year. I have also cut down on the amount of antifouling to offset some of the cost.
Ralph is very helpful.
One of the benefits using it to antifoul is you have access to the whole hull. No supports in the way.
I have suggested to Ralph who in turn will take it up with the owner is that they offer an offpeak rate. i.e. It is fully booked at the weekends in the summer but idle a lot of the time during the week. We'll have to wait and see on that one.
