The hull moulding around the P bracket on my Moody leaves a gap at front and back of the bracket that is open and obviously meant to be there. At the front it's about 10mm across and at the biggest point about 50mm deep. It looks as though there was once maybe sealant of some form in there but all gone now. Should I fill it with sealant or leave open?

Is yours a Moody 346?

If there is a gap at "A" and "B" my intuition tells me it needs attention but without further details I won't go further.

Maybe someone who knows the particular boat can advise?

Thanks for your reply. It's a 44, and the gaps are where you mark them.
The gap is clearly meant to be there and nothing is loose or moving so no concerns about it. Just seems strange to have gaps like that underwater and my instinct is to fill it with sealant to prevent it being a barnacle home

I'm guessing here but maybe the "P" bracket is used by various manufacturers on different shaped hulls? If that was the case I'd take the bracket of and fill it with epoxy but I suppose it'd be quicker just to force something like Sikaflex 291 in in with a putty knife. (But I wonder what that would achieve?)

My mobo has similar set up. It still has the original sealant all around the p bracket (all four sides) but is starting to peel off. I’m going to scrape off the more loose bits and add some sealant. I’m not going to remove the p bracket !
