After losing their main funding a year ago, NGM says if Seahorse Trust have not received funding by May, the Trust may have to shut down.

His latest £15000 appeal has raised just £200 in three months. Times are tough for any small Charity at present and SHT is by no means the first to go down.

Could make the MCZ designation process a lot simpler, though even if he is reduced to shelf filling for the local B&Q I dont think he would give up his campaign.

If he's really interested in Nature then he'll be spending all his time with the out campaign making sure the whole country is'nt concreted over to provide accommodation for the hordes of immigrants already here or expected to arrive so no real loss.

With total 2014/15 income of some £36K and Administrator fees of some £33K (presumably NGM's salary) I can't say I will be contributing. Perhaps Chris, Kate, Monty, Ellie et al will be putting some of their money where their mouths are?

It's a bit of a conundrum, what he's trying to do in Studland is stupid, but having seen hundreds of dried sea horses for sale in a newsagents in Exmouth, all from the Far East, then maybe he's been concentrating his efforts in the wrong places.

Arn't these hordes of immigrants expected to swamp the anchorage at Studland and destroy the eelgrass?

He has tried to diversify into Malta and Malaysia, but of course it all depends on finding somebody with deep pockets to finance him.

Any increase in the human population has inevitable consequences for Nature not just Studland so enjoy it while you can.Your offspring & future generations will not be so lucky.

I can understand his trying to protect the nature that he sees as wonderful even if his efforts have been a little bit misguided.

Likewise - but I think misguided is a little too kind ...

I think we all have a duty to protect habitats inhabited by less prevelant species (I struggle to say endangered - they may be endangered, but it's not just those that should be considered) - but the manner of protection needs serious consideration.

The conservationalists consider the ultimate protection to be the absense of humans - seemingly without considering that the very presense of humans is contributing to the maintenance of that habitat, or that perhaps the presense of conservationalists is detrimental to the species they're trying to protect.
