Hi All,

Discovered a small leak/weap coming in via the P-bracket on our Westerly Seahawk. The bracket comes through the hull, where it is bolted to a large steel strenthening frame which is well glassed-in, apart from the top bolt which protrudes in order to allow an anode bonding point. This is where the water escapes in to the locker (via the threads of the bolt).

It's all very solid on the outside and pushing on the bracket shows no movement.

Iv'e done a temp repair for the remainder of the season, but was wondering if there is any known design weakness I should know about on the Seahawk?

I'm guessing, but I assume it will have to come off and be re-bedded/glassed.

Sounds straightforward - remove and re-bed the bolt concerned.

Depending on the design all P brackets have the capability oif leaking as yours does (and mine on a Moody) or moving about a bit in the case of the encapsulated ones. Routine maintenance.

Have a care taking it off. Straight forward maintenance it is not. It will need to be aligned when you are refitting it. Its not a job for an amature. Unbolting, mastiking and rebolting is a dawdle, as suggetsed, but the realignmant is a bitch.

Cheers

Colin
