Having been through this business of the need to provide clean drinking water for someone with an immunosuppressive regime, I use a primary filter (standard builders item, spiral wound) filter on the hose fitting when filling from marina taps. This removes any particulate material, so that on-board pumps and taps don't get grit in the works.

By the sink I have teed off a separate supply to a General Ecology filter and tap. This unit does all the business of removing bacteria, micro-particles, oocysts, etc.

This way, I have cleaned water in the fresh tanks, for washing and washing-up. Drinking water and cooking water is from the GE tap, to ensure that we can have a source of really well filtered/purified water.

Works well, tastes fine, but the standard of UK marina water must be pretty good to start with.

No connection, other than satisfied customer.

We have a Seagull IV fitted and when we purchased the boat in Mississipi, I wasn't convinced by it's effectiveness, nor with the quality of the loacal water supply, and so didn't use it for drinking water. Since we moved the boat to Georgia, with a better quality of water, I have flushed the complete system with a Clorox solution and flushed the tanks and pipework through several times. I then renewed the Seagull filter and am now very impressed with the water quality.

We just use a Britta Filter jug for drinking water - you can keep it in the fridge and so it's nice and cool. Very cheap (£10 from Tesco or simalar).

We filter the water going into the tanks but you still get some taste from them once the water's been sat in the tanks for a few weeks - the Britta clears this completely.

We have one and think it is great. Doesn't just give great taste but gets rid of all the nasties that may come in your water. We have a water tester which we use for the watermaker, in Las Palmas the water quality from the taps was around 1200ppm (parts per million) world health recommends no more that 400ppm. The filter took it down to 700ppm so that must have been salt. We had to drink bottled water there.
