I was thinking of getting one of these to mount my liferaft vertically on the pushpit. All the pictures show the liferaft stowed horizontally. It looks as if it should work with the canister in a vertical orientation. I was wondering if anyone has actually done this.

Using the Seago cradle?
Yep, had I thought, I should have taken a photo this morning, there is a yacht with it mounted vertically on the stern rails.

It maybe a little more awkward to deploy as the LR weight would be resting on what is now the bottom and you would have to pull it out from the side, rather than 'Roll' it out of the cradle if used in the 'Usual' orientation. I'm sure adrenaline would overcome this slight issue if it did end to be deployed in anger.

If it did bother you, vertical cradles are available for around £250.

This looks like a vertical mounted Seago LR

Deployment looks like release the straps then push aft wards

Yes I saw those but seems to be twice the price of the others for what appears to be less metalwork.

That one is overly complicated as it is adjustable for different size life rafts

Not complicated to make from 22 mm tube and a hand bender with fittings from a boat pram hood.

I made my own that folded down to allow the LR to slide out. again, to complicated as I could have simplified the design to be similar to the one pictured
