I bought a Seago dehumidifier. Works great. Only problem is the tank, and I can't understand the instructions. Probably me but...

It says to avoid using the tank, remove the rubber bung from the back of the unit and connect the clear plastic pipe. I have done this, and located the unit next to the sink to drain (through the now fitted pipe). Only problem is no water comes out of the pipe, it still fills the integral tank on the unit! Hmmm

Not a big issue but it will automatically cut out when full. Anyone else got one of these and worked out what to do? is there a switch or something? I am probably being most dense here but.....

(oh, and the instructions look like they were translated from some language without any context so don't make much sense...

thanks,
regards....

From the sounds of that it suggests that the act of removing the bung will mean the water flows not into the tank but out through the bunghole, which would be a bit primitive, so it sounds like as you suggest there's been a bit lost in translation, which doesn't really help, but...

I seem to remember that my B&Q dehumidifier did the same unless I tilted the whole unit backwards a few degrees with a piece of plywood under the front feet. You could try that.

Like Earlybird, I tilted my B&Q unit towards the pipe connection. I also fitted the rubber bung into the hole which usually allows the water into the built in container.

Just bought one, you may have already discovered the solution but in case you or anyone else is wondering how to get the self drain facility working simply remove the rubber bung from the back of the unit. Now attach the drain hose and use the rubber bung as a stopper in the outlet inside the unit that would drain water into the tank. Putting the rubber bung in that hole will only allow the water to go down the self drain route. You can actually see where the self drain hose is connected to the rear outlet up inside the unit once you remove the water tank and next to this is the outlet that would let the water drain into the tank but now being bunged up the water can only go down the self drain route. Don't forget to put the tank back though otherwise the unit will not switch on.
