The Seafarer depthsounder on my parents boat has finally given up the ghost.

I have been tasked with its replacement and will probably go for either a NASA; Simrad or similar.

As the boat is 80 miles away, can anyone help me with the size of hole for the transducer? If I remember correctly they are about 48-50mm. Can anyone confirm the actual size of transducer for the D800?

Thanks

Donald

You'll probably not need to change the transducer if the old one is OK Seafarer used a standard 150KHz one The manuals shoud tell you the frequencies.

38 - 50 mm sounds huge. I've got a Sefarer one here belonging to an older model. The encapsulated transducer is 1½" diameter but if mounting through hull it fits through a ½" hole.

Provided it is the instrument and not the transducer, there will be no need for a new transducer if you go for NASA, don't know about Simrad.
