Seadoo Spark & suitable Davit system?

The air deck on my dinghy has developed a leak which seems to come from behind the tape protecting the seam. This is not the only leak so I’m beginning to think that the time has come to look for something to replace it with. Also, the 4 hp Tohatsu on the back used to be enough for towing the kids on a donut, but lately I’ve sensed that it’s not as exhilarating for them as it used to be .

So I’ve started looking at the Seedoo Sparks again. Seems fun and would be good for towing all kinds of water toys. The 3 up would even provide limited occasional transport capacity and generally it would provide a lot of performance in a package that would fit nicely on the bathing platform.

Which brings me to the second part of the title. I don’t really fancy a 10 k€, 200 kg crane for this purpose so I’ve looked around for davit solutions. The Hurley H3O seems ok on the videos but I’m a bit worried about the swivel and transferring all the load to the swim platform through a relatively small fixing plate. It also places the Spark quite far back.

Searching the forum brought up surprisingly few posts regarding Sparks but I would love to hear your comments, hearsay, etc. on Sparks and suitable davit systems for them.

Hi, cant help on the davit system ,but we bought a spark last summer, absolutely brilliant ,go for the 3 up although you will struggle with 3 adults, its not big enough, ok for a adult + 2 kids.
The 90 hp model preferably , not as stable as the big skis ,but lots of fun and a tank of fuel lasts forever , spec the boarding step and the storage bin , 50 mph flat out, fast enough for most people.
Lot's entertainment for your money, might be a bit wet on your feet to use as a tender, tends to get quite a bit of water in the footwells, hope this is helpful.

Besenzoni do that neat fold away crane but prob costs more than the spark.

TKBM is right about the foot"wells" - they are full of water so you can't use it as a tender unless you're in a warm place with bare feet

The Spark looks great. Seadoo are generally excellent quality - I had an SE130 briefly. Only downside I can see is that it doesn't have enough power to run a flyboard

I now find the Spark even more appealing, but the davit solution would have to be easy enough to not hinder usage. The Hurley H3O looks interesting but could I ask for your educated opinions on the following: all the handling of the ski is done on top of this fixing, which to me doesn't look very robust and spells 'hairline cracks'. Would that likely be the case with h3o or am I worrying over nothing? Iirc, there is a plate that goes on the under side of the platform.

Ive seen this setup on the platform of a Princess 42 (boat is based in Swansea) with hurley H30 and seadoo jetski and it looked very smart setup (no pics I'm afraid). Thing i like with the H30 davit system is it still allows you to board the boat from either side, where as with a passerelle you are usually limited to boarding on the portside.
