I wanted to put a stanchion gate on each side to aid getting on and off when short handed or decrepit (your guess).
What I need then are two extra stanchion bases.
The ones on the boat are a kind of oblong, are yours too ?

Anyone know a source of these ?

Similar bases are fairly readily available - however if you are going for a gate they are not suitable. You need to have an extra leg on the two either side of the gate otherwise you will not be able to tension the gaurdrail wires. Have a look at boat where they are fitted to see how they do it. You will probably need to have them fabricated to suit your boat. When you add in all the estra fittings it is not a trivial job.

I'll have a close look tomorrow and maybe take a picture but there are two supports at something like 45 degrees.
I'll try and see if they are home made in some way, they work well.
