i have just hacked off an old single hole sea cock and have purchased a new blakes 3/4 . I am now loseing my nerve at the thought of drilling 5 holes into my pride and joy . thinking of going plastic ..any advise please /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Blakes were the valves that all the boat builder installed & they haven't changed in years...(using a Cameronism) an analogue in a digital age.

Yes by all means go for plastic valves Durapipe make a good range of both PVC & ABS valves.

You can use PVC with solvent weld ends, or threaded or even flanged if you want.
So you can use a good bronze thru hull fitting (1 hole) then on to your valve or using a female to pvc adaptor, you can put vour valve in a more convenient position. All the valves have unions on both ends so are simple to service.
