I have just replaced my 11/2" seacocks and was expecting a load of hassle taking them out but following a set procedure everything went really smoothly ;- removed the hoses ,bend seacock leaving just the flange nut and through hull fitting, but all the threads were resined in with no chance of undoing the nut (in such a confined space) so disc cut the nut and split it off, got the huge mallet out to attempt to bash out the through hull fitting - no go. Re-think, cut the fitting off inside leaving 1/4" standing , fortunately I had an exact size hole saw to fit over exposed 1/4" flange whizzed through that and the fitting just popped out leaving a nice clean hole to fit the new Marelon seacocks and fittings, sealed and fitted, plus new hoses and finished . No trauma , so thanks to all the members who have offered advice to so many other members leaving a large and varied selection of ideas on these here forums. So all went well due to the collection of ideas that seem to cover most eventualities.

Did this not enlarge the diameter of the hole through the hull?

You would have to do that anyway, on say a 1 1/2" BSP fitting the OD is 1 3/4" but the Marelon through hull part is just over 2" oddly enough I did the same thing yesterday but didn't need to cut skin down fitting down as it broke under the flange nut.

saw the boat this afternoon. The more I look, the more I like her. Nice work, Marelon makes a lot of sense for the best fo reasons.

Fine if you are enlarging the fitting. If not, I can recommend an "Oops Arbor" like this http://amzn.to/1oczQn2

Mine has been invaluable for enlarging hole saw holes, and will be perfect for when I drill out the through-hulls. You fit the larger saw in your existing arbor, then replace the 6mm drill with the oops, then attach the saw for the smaller hole.
