Sea water leak

Hi all.
First forgive me for repeating this post but I’m no further on since my previous post. My boat is a Beneteau Antares 30 fly and when underway For around 30 minitues or so I get around 1/2 liter of water in the starboard side of the lazaret. Previouly having had fitted a new trim tab considered that this was the problem and removed and re installed it. That didn’t work. Now my engineer thinks it might be from the transducer and speed wheel but I can not find the thru hull entry point and didn’t check its location prior to relaunching as I thought the trim tab would have cured the problem. I have attached a couple of photos where the sea water appears and I’m guessing when the boat is plaining the water runs from the drain hole. What I don’t know and determine is just where the water would be from. I’ve checked all hose clips etc and non found to be leaky. Would anyone know the track from the haunching where the drain hole is. Sorry to be long winded and any help would be well appreciated thanks. The Chanel in the pics is where the water accumulates and is there once we are back on berth. Never any water there when stationary.

Others will be more familiar with the construction method, but if for example if foam cored It could be historic sea water ( quite possible introduced by the trim tab) that is just draining as the bow raises when moving.

Half a Litre is not much. If you cant see the leak is there more water if the boat has not been used for several weeks ( which suggests new water ingress) or similar which might suggest draining? Even getting water out of for example foam cockpit cushions is a very slow process.

Nominal leaks tend to seal them selves as the salt dries out and forms a seal. Clearly this is not going to stop a major inrush, but weeping skin fittings will often seal.

Hi thanks for your thoughts and comments. When the boat is not used no water apparent in the lazaret so I assume when the bow is raised what water lies between the hull and the inner skin runs down and out thru the drain hole. I thought that these were to transfer any water in the Chanel to the bilge but can’t see any connection or common way through. The amount of water depends largely on time at sea I did take about 5 ltr s out last year but so far has been a small amount. Will keep checking and I thought of using coloured dye to try tracing the source.

Good luck.

One method on here suggested by others is if you can access the bilge put in talcum powder. You will then see the trace marks of water which may have flowed and then dried up which gives an idea of where it is coming from.

What about stern gland packing ,we often get a weep underway but nothing at rest. Or sea water cooling system- end caps need a tighten??? Look at sea water pump too. Talc powder as suggested is good advice to trace. Good luck doesn't sound too bad though!

I dont know your boat so forgive me if this is wide of the mark. Is the leak anywhere near the engine intake vents? Mine has a tray like affair that is designed to catch any water before being led off into the engine bay. I had a small ingress of water and it turned out that is where it came from. There was always a small residual puddle left that didn't drain off and any rocking of that boat would splash a small amount over
