Sea warnings follow dinghy death

Almighty cold water up there this time of the year - had to be hauled into a boat when I was swimming in Bangor harbour in April. The Foyle estuary warms up much later in the year. Scarcely the time of year for Lifeguards to be manning the beaches.

Ir seems that two teenage boys took an inflatible dinghy to sea near Castlerock in Derry on Tuesday afternoon but they capsized and got carried out to sea by a strong offshore wind. One of the boys swam ashore to raise the alarm. The other remained with the boat and became hypothermic and by the time the Coastguard helicopter from Sligo had rescued him his condition was described as "very cold and very poorly".
He subsequently died.
