Hello

We went out on the Sea Trial today for the Phantom 37. We came out of Chichester and went flat out for the Nab tower, cruised around out there and back again.
WOW! at WOT power we managed to get 33.5 knots out of it, Fairline's brochure says it will only do 32!
There were a couple of little points that are going to be dealt with e.g minor difference in oil pressures, and a sort of whine at 2200rpm on the starboard engine, coming from the RPM gauge on the flybridge.
The boat seemed to handle pretty well, the seats were comfy and I could see where I was going even from inside.

Sorry to all the yachties we swamped (our skipper seemed to think it was there fault that they were out there!)

Hopefully I should be out boating soon and of course I will be flying the burgee (or I would be if I had one-----HLB!

Sounds really good, i would not take too much notice about the diffence in oil pressure as one engine will run hotter than the other due to water heater, as long as its above 50psi when revving high, no smoke then?, speed is good, bottom must be spotless, noise from taco might actually be noise transmitted up morse control cables to top area, again nothing to worry about, tachos are electronic so should be silent, the whine could be the misses downstairs! falling over again dont worry, she will soon be staying at home and it will be a lads boat as planned, good luck sounds like you have found the perfect partner.

Not so sure about the justification that one will run hotter than the other since the engine thermostats should keep both at the same preset temp. One engine may take a little longer to reach that temp though.
Unless there is a serious difference in oil pressure there is not too much that can be done except to formally log (through a letter) the situation just incase something develops later on outside of the warrenty.
enjoy

Asan engineer in this trade, I have been asked the question from many owners as to why does one engine run hotter than the other the answer is always due to the calorifier being connected to the engine that runs hotter, Brooms are the only boat builders that I have come across that fit a simple radiator stat in the line that runs to the input side of the water heater, that way both engines should run at the same temp, also it stops the wife scolding her hands when she does the washing up after you have sat and enjoyed the lovely meal she has prepared for you, in thanks for you giving her a good day out in a force 2 or less across the channel( fat chance of that then!!!!).. thats my theory anyway..

Don't forget to tell Peters at the outset that they must organise a permanent berth for you in Chichester (that is if you want one, of course!). Could be difficult to organise otherwise.
