Nothing to do with sailing this, but I thought that some of you may have some ideas.

Next summer, we (Cambridge Uni Gliding Club) are planning a trip to Spain. (Long way off, but health and safety and all that stuff takes months to sort out). We want to take five gliders with us. A ferry accross the channel and then towing them the rest of the way is one possibility, but ends up very expensive - due to the length of the trailers (12 meters) the ferry companies charge a fortune, and due to their weight (1.5 tonnes) towing them is hard work and expensive on fuel.

Therefore I was wondering if the truck ferries (the sort that just take the trailer part of articulated lorries) would take this sort of trailer. That way we could send the trailers to spain by sea, and pick them up when they arrive in spain, thus avoiding a long, unpleasant tow, and also hopefully saving a bit of money. However, i've not been able to track down any of the companies that run the truck ferries down on the web. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
