Am having to either repair my old ITT Jabsco Rm toilet - pump u/s, full replacement needed (but top seals seem a base weakness) , or opt for a new Jabsco model, OR possibly an XM electric one - bothare are c. £145

Any good/ bad experience of either?

The new Jabsco/ITT/PAR toilet is good and you should be able to get one for under £100 from one of the discount chandleries. Also renew the inlet and outlet hoses with the white 'NO ODOUR' type - well worth the extra expense.

I'd rather be sailing...

My experience of electric motor driven ones is not good. The seal failed on a summer cruise many years ago, and filled the motor with sh*t. Watching me washing this out in fresh water on pontoons gave the other occupants endless hours of pleasure. OK, I'm more experienced now and might carry a spare seal, but it's still a problem I could do without. At the very least make sure there's a backup system (apart from a bucket, which we eventually resorted to)
