How does one get a Silva DSC Radio (wiht built in Navtex), A Raymarine tri-data and a Raymarine 425 plotter talking to each other and what is the display like on the plotter assuming that this is possible?

Many Thanks in advance

I am not an expert but I believe you will need to buy some more hardware. You will need the NMEA/Seatalk Adapter. (£125) Usually available on ebay.com a lot less.
The TriData unit only has Seatalk connections (other than the depth and log)
The Silva only has NMEA
The Plotter has NMEA but no Seatalk.

Connect Radio to Plotter or NMEA out on NMEA/Seatalk Adapter.
Connect Plotter NMEA out to NMEA in on NMEA/Seatalk Adapter
Connect TriData to Seatalk on NMEA/Seatalk Adapter

However, Please check as I do not have any of the above.

some raymarine units have nmea connections and will convert incoming data and re-transmit over the seatalk network. my ST6000 control head which i use as a remote station for my ST5000+ pilot does this.

if you don't have a raymarine box with nmea connection you will, as has already been said, need a converter.

i suggest you study the manuals and check that you can run all instruments on the same version of nmea. some of mine need version 1.5 and others v2.0 and the difference is a right pain.

I concur with Talulah - Silva and 425 have NMEA only, Tridata has Seatalk only, so you need the Raymarine NMEA/Sea Talk interface box (there are a few other boxes that claim to do NMEA Sea Talk interface but not much cheaper). I cant say that I have seen any on Ebay, and RRP is about 130 pounds.
