When I had my SHE 32C re-rigged two years ago I had the rigger incorporate the brand new Sea-Sure Ratchet Backstay Adjuster which came with the boat but had never been fitted.

I know pumping applies the tension but how do I realise it ? Is it the grub screw at the back and does it go clockwise/anti-clockwise or in/out... I know I could ‘play around with it’ but my catastrophic thinking imagines me either bending or dropping the mast on my head.

I cannot find any manual online (it’s the Sea-Sure 10mm Cat 21-56), but hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction or describe for me.

Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind me asking, did you get the answer to this, and is it any good? It's just there is a second hand one kicking about. Thanks for any response.

Looking at the pic and having the 'ratchet' name, it doesn't look hydraulic. Some type of screw device? I would expect a pawl reverse somewhere around the plastic ring part that the handle is pinned to.

Hi, I never found a manual in the end.... as the other poster suggested it is a ratchet/screw system and not hydraulic. Its been a while since I adjusted it (I do have the masthead rig so I don't touch it too much). It was an expensive piece of kit when new.
