I am taking my Fletcher to the Solent in September and would like to have a day's tuition - either own boat or a school boat. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. We have previously done Day Skipper theory so are very much novices!

I recently did my 5 day Day skipper course through Peters PLC at Chichester with an RYA instructor called Doug Griffith
Contact Peters for Sea School enquiries or speak to Doug direct on 01243 673800 (or email him at douggriffith@rya-online.net)

Sea Fever International offer some excellent Powerboat training courses - looks great fun!

I'd recommend RYA powerboat 1 & 2, takes a weekend and will teach you a little of everything to go to sea safely, qualifies for an ICC also. Peter white or Steve Brown of Steves sea and ski offer courses in the solent/chichester areas and are very good. IMHO

"Hopefully that won't be too expensive to fix?"

I'd recomend Tom Gregory on 01794 390426. He also runs some of the MBM Cruises.

So you unscrew this, and put it safely here, then oopps...
All - IMHO, BTW, FWIW and NWGOI
