Hi,

i am looking to gain experience on a rib as well as my boat for the trip so is there a sea school or rib club where you pay so much and you use their ribs? i heard awhile ago there something like this for youngsters only as well. anywhere around the hampshire area

If not what do i need to drive a rib for free at a dive club, as a safety boat, things like that. i have PB2 and i presume i'd need life saving, what else?

i'm really just looking for some cheap ways to get out on a rib!

Many thanks

As no one else has answered I'll offer my thoughts.

I doubt you will find anywhere to charter you a self drive RIB in the Solent without suitable experience or qualifications. Even if you did, the cost would certainly not be cheap.

Dive clubs and sailing clubs both need RIB drivers to act as safety boat, I think you would be more likely to find an opportunity at a sailing club. You would need to hold an RYA safety boat certificate which, as you already have a PB2, shouldn't be too difficult to obtain.

Speak to your local sea school and obtain your safety boat cerificate then get around all the dinghy clubs in the area and offer your services. I'm sure one of them would be grateful for a willing volunteer.
