Last night I thought I would have a look at the free Sea Safety Guide that arrived with this months MBM, might pick up a tip or just remind me of things I should be doing.
Got to page 16 - Lifejackets and Buoyancy Aids, looked at the picture, two guys on PWC, nothing wrong with that, then I looked at the back ground. Oh dear some one didn't do their homework.
That area of Poole Harbour, Blood Alley, is first of all a 6 knot limit, those guys have produced white water that is not consistent of that speed and it is a 'No PWC Allowed area' anyway according to the chart published by PHC.
So I was just wondering if those 2 guys were aware that they have been recorded breaking the local bye-laws and it is published in a RNLI booklet promoting Sea Safety.

Looks like the jetty for Green Island in the background, so South Deep rather than Blood Alley.

You are still right about speed limit and 'No PWC's' tho'. Nice one!

Us Poole anoraks eh?

It does rather depend on exactly where it was.

..."There is a designated area for PWs to the north of Brownsea Island where they are exempt from the speed limit. They are prohibited from using the quiet area to the south of Brownsea Island. In all other areas of the harbour they are subject to the speed limit of 10 knots, which is strictly enforced."

I agree with your quote from the PHC web site, however PWC's are not allowed in the area south of South Haven Point to Harry Point/Brownsea Castle and from Pottery Pier across to Patchin Point, basically half of the harbour, so whether it is Green Island Pier or Furzey Pier in the background it makes no difference they should not have been there.
I must point that was no my reason for the original post, I was just wondering if the guys on the PWC's knew their picture was there for all to see, basically caught in the act, if you understand my meaning.
