Hi everyone,

First time poster here. We have recently sold our boat which we keep in Palma (Bavaria Sport 32) and are now looking for something bigger to keep in the same area.

Budget is circa £130,000-£140,000 so obviously looking at older options.

We viewed a Sea Ray Sundancer 460 and a Cranchi Atlantique 40 fly. Obviously totally different boats, but shows you how open minded we are.

Requirements are:

Good size master cabin, ideally with en suite.
Second heads for day use and guests.
Air con.
Large garage, or good size swim platform for tender (Seadoo Spark) with hydraulic pasarrelle to act as lift.

Our boating tends to be day trips around the Island, but with out next boat we plan to visit Menorca, Ibiza etc.

We live on the boat when out there, and stay on board for around a week per month from March to September.

The Sea Ray seemed nice, but I don't know much about them. It is a 2001 with Cummins 446hp engines.

The Cranchi was 2006 with D6 engines. I am unsure if this may be underpowered when fully loaded.

Any views on these models would be gratefully received, escpecially how the Cranchi handles at sea and how stable she is at anchor.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this post, and I look forward to feedback and other models to consider. Love the Absolute 45 but don't think the garage will hold the tender we want, nor is the platform big enough.

Paul :)

Hi Paul

I have a Sea Ray Sundancer 460 based in Sant Carles on the Mainland. It has 74TAMD Volvo engines, this particular model is actually sold in Europe as a 515.

We go out to the Islands most years, spent a week in Ibiza in July this summer.

When away from base we seldom use Marinas and find the 460 very suitable for our needs. I bought the boat about 5 years ago now, and then and now it represented great value for the money as opposed to most comparable European built boats of similar size and spec.

Perhaps the biggest plus that I find in Sea Ray boats is the extra beam compared to Euro equivalents, and the added floor space that brings.

PM me if you would like more info, I'd be glad to assist with more specifics.

Graham

I ran a 48 for 6 years in the islands and got to say its a great boat, yes a little under powered but came fully loaded and was excellent at anchor etc, can't speak for the 40 but would be similar.
